Summer 2012

This is a completely random post of thoughts with no coherent flow. It's summer...

First, I'm obsessed with this song. It's by the band Grouplove, and became popular after it was used in an itunes commercial(not the first time that has happened.) My only wish is that they would have asked me to star in the video. I would have filled the role as the awkward strawberry blonde kid much better than this guy. Just sayin'. Check it out.

I have to send a shout out to my home state. Today is 'WEST VIRGINIA DAY', a day that we celebrate the formation of the state. Today is the 149th birthday of the state. I'm proud to be from West Virginia, though often seen in misguided stereotype or negative social placement, I think that West Virginia as a state is one of the most unique among the 50.

Finally, I want to mention that it may be a few days before I have the opportunity to blog again. I will be heading to Virginia over the weekend to finish up working at Montpelier for about a month. I will also be meeting with a few of my advisers to discuss my Ph. D. plan of action and what schools I'm looking at ect. The application process is extremely involved and exhausting, but I find strength reminding myself that this is the last time I'll need to apply to schools(hopefully) . It makes my stomach turn just thinking about it. My dad keeps reminding me that I need a back up plan(as he did before I applied to grad. schools.) I can only respond with, "I'll get myself into a Ph. D. program, you work on the back-up plan." I guess I'm just chasing the sun, this song says it all...

UVA update: Basically since I blogged last the Board of Visitors was held up in a meeting until 3 a.m. and when they came out they declared the Dean of the school of Commerce the Interim President.. Aside from this several faculty members have turned in their resignations-can't say I blame them. I should be an interesting fall semester as rumors of strikes and other like measures circulate. It's a mess and it doesn't appear to be getting better anytime soon.
