John Milton's Paradise Lost
A First Sunday Lecture Series sponsored by St. Paul the Apostle Church and SCAD kicked off today with a lecture from SCAD Art History Professor Edwin Johnson titled: John Milton's Paradise Lost, featuring the illustrations of Gustave Dore and William Blake from the Age of Romanticism. I felt like the lecture did a great job to abbreviate the story through the artwork, and also brought up some interesting thoughts in my head on how things are personified. It was a bit long over all, but the Professor was entertaining. It is the first of three lectures planned to round out 2009. The lecture brought up issues in how the plot of the story was illustrated. The next lecture is planned for Nov. 1 @ St. Paul the Apostle Church and all are free and open to the public. I can't wait. Gustave Dore
